A beloved Coronation Street star has been supported by fans following a sad loss
A Coronation Street star has received an outpouring of support from followers after they laid her cherished family member’s ashes to rest.
Adam Rickitt played Nick Tilsley on the long-running ITV soap, making his debut in 1997 – and it’s fair to say it didn’t take him long to become a firm favourite with fans.
However, Adam ended up leaving the show in 1999 to pursue a pop career but returned to the cobbles for a two-year stint from 2002 to 2004. Since his exit, Adam has kept busy, appearing on the likes of Hollyoaks and BBC’s Doctors.
Away from the showbiz world, Adam is married to Good Morning Britain star Katy Rickitt. The pair first met when Katy interviewed Adam back in 2011 on GMB reports the Mirror.
Three years later, the couple tied the knot in a winter wonderland wedding in December 2014. Tragically, December brought heartbreak for the couple when their adored four-legged companion Daphne passed away, leaving both Katy and Adam completely “blindsided” by the loss.
On Sunday (January 4), Katy shared on Instagram that they had laid Daphne’s ashes to rest. Accompanied by a touching video compilation featuring Daphne, Katy penned: “Today we scattered our baby Daphne in our special place, Tatton park.
“She now shares the same tree as Rufus, where she forms the bottom and he the branches. This is the scene of our happiest dog walks as a family, where she attacked the gate and @adamrickitt feet!
“The clouds formed a D as we left, and we’d like to think she’s finally Princess Daphne in the kingdom of wobble bouncing through blancmange clouds! We’ll always love you, our true baby. Rest peacefully and happy with big brother Rufus. Until we see you again xx.”
Supporters were quick to flood the comments section with messages of comfort for Katy and Adam. One person penned: “Sending so much love your way Katy and Adam I’m deeply truly sorry.”
Another shared: “Aww Katy and Adam I’m sure Princess Daphne and King Rufus are together running free and will be waiting when the time comes for you all to be together again. But for now know they are together and at peace. Love to you all.”
A third added their condolences: “Bless your hearts thinking of you. Have fun in heaven together Rufus and Daphne.”
