The Traitors fans are convinced that contestants Ross and Ellie on the latest series of the BBC reality show knew each other before filming
The secret connection between The Traitors contestants Ross and Ellie seems to have been exposed as fans discovered a photo of the pair together on a work trip in 2024.
Since its launch in 2022, the BBC show has seen numerous participants concealing pre-existing relationships during their time in the castle.
As series four kicked off, viewers began to suspect that Ross, 37, and Ellie, 33, were not strangers but were actually acquainted.
Their suspicions appear to have been confirmed after an unearthed group photo from a June 2024 work trip featuring both Ross and Ellie. A now-removed post on an Instagram account named @damospersonaltraining showed the pair during a ‘team outing’.
In the snap, Ross is seen with his hand on Ellie’s back, both grinning for the camera. However, the exact nature of their relationship remains unclear.
In the first episode, the London-based pair were spotted chatting on the train journey to the castle. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed signs suggesting that Ross and Ellie seemed too at ease for two people supposedly meeting for the first time, reports Wales Online.
Speculation was further fuelled when it was revealed they had once holidayed at the same hotel, leading many to argue that their hidden connection gives them an unfair advantage.
The Sun reported that both contestants have shared holiday photos from the same location in Tenerife since filming concluded last May.
Ellie shared photographs thought to be captured at the lavish Tivoli La Caleta Tenerife Resort. Accompanying the image, she penned: “Some winter sun is good for the soul.”
Personal trainer Ross also turned to Instagram to post two snaps from a getaway, writing: “Suns out, guns out. Holiday gains in Tenerife! Quick question – do you train on holiday?”
One follower enquired: “With Dr Ellie?” Another added: “The scandal”. The hotels appeared remarkably similar, and keen fans began investigating both contestants online.
They discovered that Ross had ‘liked’ a post by Ellie on LinkedIn back in July, though it remains uncertain whether this occurred before or after filming. One viewer commented on Reddit: “Their initial scene did have a fake energy.
“If you live in London and someone else says they do too, especially when you’re young, you wouldn’t be surprised! ‘It’s not like both living in Cornwall or Grimsby or something.”
Another theorised: “They could be a couple potentially- I did see Ellie react when Netty recognised Ross.”
A third noted: “She glances at him when everyone is sitting in a group after traitors are chosen, just at the end of the edit, just a split second, but looks like she’s checking his reaction to what’s being said, it looks really obvious to me there!”
