Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played the lovesick youngster Sam in the 2003 Christmas classic, is now 35 and married to actress Talulah Riley, who was previously wed to billionaire Elon Musk twice
Christmas may be over for another year, but there’s still plenty of reason to keep those festive films rolling. Devotees of the cherished 2003 masterpiece Love Actually might be astonished to discover that one of its most youthful stars has matured considerably – and has wed the former spouse of a controversial celebrity.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who shot to fame portraying the charmingly lovestruck Sam in Richard Curtis’s adored romantic tale, has now married Talulah Riley, the performer and writer who was previously wed to Elon Musk on two separate occasions. Following his breakthrough as a young performer, Brodie-Sangster, now 35, has crafted a remarkable career showcasing his theatrical talents.
His portfolio features an array of enormously successful projects, spanning the Maze Runner cinema franchise, acclaimed television series such as Game of Thrones and The Queen’s Gambit, alongside countless other ventures, reports the Mirror.
Most recently, the Love Actually star delighted viewers in a festive advertisement for Google Pixel, playing a self-absorbed version of himself revisiting the memorable locations from the 2003 romantic hit.
Throughout the commercial, he wrongly believes that excited Google Pixel customers are mesmerised by his fame and performance in the movie, rather than their device’s innovative features.
Following its appearance across social platforms, audiences were quick to share their delight.
One admirer wrote: “I can’t count how many times I have watched this lol.”
Another gushed: “What a cute commercial! Good one!” whilst a third branded it as “very clever” and someone else declared: “Brilliant!”.
During filming of the miniseries Pistol in 2022, which chronicles the Sex Pistols’ tale, Thomas Brodie-Sangster encountered English actress and writer Talulah Riley, now 40. The pair are thought to have sparked romance whilst working together on set.
Talulah launched her career on television with appearances in Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Marple, before securing a starring role in E4’s brief 2007 series, Nearly Famous. Her movie portfolio features Pride and Prejudice, St Trinian’s, The Boat That Rocked, amongst numerous others.
In 2008, she infamously became Elon Musk’s partner. After the billionaire Tesla Motors chief executive’s separation from his then-spouse Justine Musk, he and Talulah wed twice.
They initially married in 2010, then divorced in 2012, before remarrying in 2013, and ultimately splitting for good in 2016.
On July 27, 2023, Brodie-Sangster announced on his official Instagram that he and Talulah had become engaged. He shared a photograph of the couple in a gondola.
His message stated: “Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged. Love is all around X.”
Love is All Around, the legendary 1967 hit by the Troggs, is memorably ‘reimagined’ as a Christmas song by Bill Nighy’s character Billy Mack in Love Actually. Supporters packed the comments with their responses.
One follower penned: “How did I not know that the kid from Love Actually was married to Elon Musk’s ex? ? ? ? Am I the only one shocked by this? CUTE COUPLE THOUGH. Wishing you love and happiness! !”.
