What we know about the actor who plays Coronation Street’s new Dr Vincent Harper
- Dr Vincent Harper made his debut on Coronation Street this week. He was recruited by Weatherfield hospital to perform a complex surgery on Shona Platt to save her unborn baby daughter, who had a mass on her neck.
- During the procedure, Dr Harper had to perform a tracheostomy to enable the baby to breathe after encountering difficulties with the original tube. Thankfully, both Shona and her newborn were stable following the operation.
- While it’s not been confirmed if surgeon Vincent Harper is making a future comeback on the soap, fans are already suspicious of him. A recent fan theory suggests he may have a link to the late Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) due to him knowing so much about the late vicar.
- Vincent Harper is played by John Hollingworth – and it isn’t his first rodeo in front of the camera. The television veteran has a string of shows and films under his belt spanning several years.
- From 2015 to 2017, he played Captain Henshawe in the BBC drama Poldark. He also appeared alongside Martin Clunes in Doc Martin from 2011 to 2017, portraying the character of Professor Sam Bradman.
- His television credits also include appearances in Call The Midwife and Mr Bates vs The Post Office. Crossing the pond, John landed a role in the 2017 Hollywood blockbuster Transformers: The Last Knight, where he played Tristan.
