Emmerdale star Amy Walsh shared heartbreaking news on Wednesday
Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has been supported after a tragic loss as she said “there are no words”. The 38-year-old star, known for portraying Tracy Robinson in the ITV drama, turned to Instagram on Wednesday (January 7) to share heartbreaking news.
Amy posted on her Story, revealing the passing of actor Frazer Hammill. “Rest in peace you wonderful man,” she penned beside his photograph.
Frazer had built up an impressive portfolio, featuring in Justice League, Last Laugh, Happy Valley and Abraham’s Point, whilst also taking on the role of a prison guard in Emmerdale back in 2021.
The John Godber Theatre Company broke the tragic news via their official Instagram account, stating: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frazer Hammill. It is impossible to put into words how much he will be missed by all of us who had the absolute joy of working with him,” reports the Mirror.

The Yorkshire theatre group continued: “Frazer had a huge, loving heart and enormous talent. We are all heartbroken.”
Amy expressed her grief in the comments section, writing: “There are no words,” accompanied by three broken heart emojis. Numerous others voiced their sorrow whilst sharing cherished memories of the former youth theatre participant.
“Shocked and saddened to see this, sending my thoughts to his family and loved ones,” one follower commented, whilst another added: “A gentle spirit and a huge heart. Love to all.”
Someone else reflected: “What a brilliant person and performer he was! We’re all deeply saddened to hear this,” with another echoing: “Truly heartbroken.”
Another fan shared their condolences, stating: “Such sad news, I’ll always remember his lessons and his kind words. Thinking of his family and friends at this hard time,” while another added: “What an absolute gem of a man. A true loss to the world. RIP Frazman.”
Amy joined the Emmerdale family in 2014, and her character Tracy has since been at the heart of numerous unforgettable storylines in the Dales. From dealing with the death of her father, Frank Clayton (Michael Praed), to embarking on a scandalous affair with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), and surviving last year’s terrifying limo crash.
Tracy also faced the devastating loss of her husband, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who was brutally murdered by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in September 2024.
In a chilling flashback scene, John, who himself met a grisly end at the hands of his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) in this week’s Corriedale crossover, administered an unknown substance to Nate under the guise of “saving” him. Tragically, Nate suffered a fatal reaction to the drug.
John then transported Nate’s body to a bridge and dumped it into the lake, eerily the same location as the previous limo crash.
Since joining the ranks of the popular ITV soap, Amy has received several award nominations for her compelling portrayal of Tracy. She was shortlisted for Serial Drama Performance at the 25th National Television Awards, and nominated for Best Actress at the 2021 Inside Soap Awards and Best Soap Performance at the I Talk Telly Awards in the same year.
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and STV, and Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV as part of ITV’s new soap power hour scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale
