Liverpool player ratings vs Arsenal: Three 5/10s as toothless Reds fail to threaten in draw

Date:

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Arsenal at the Emirates as Arne Slot’s side failed to register a single shot on target in a tame attacking display

Liverpool battled to a goalless stalemate away at Arsenal, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games and leaving the title-chasing Gunners frustrated.

The Premier League champions appeared shaky in the first 20 minutes but found their footing at the Emirates, dominating much of the second half and restricting the hosts’ forward momentum. However, the visitors’ attack was too subdued, failing to land a single shot on target.

Conor Bradley was unlucky when his audacious lob from 25 yards out struck the crossbar after David Raya had hastily left his line. But apart from that, there were no clear-cut opportunities for either team as they settled for a point each under the floodlights in north London.

Arne Slot’s squad have now drawn all three of their matches in 2026. And here, the Daily Star Sport rates the Liverpool players.

Alisson – 7

Despite conceding six goals in his previous two visits to the Emirates, he managed a much-needed clean sheet this time around. Made solid saves from Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice in the first half before thwarting Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli later in the game.

Conor Bradley – 7

Hit the crossbar with a smart effort after advancing with the ball. Had some impressive moments in possession and defended diligently. Was stretchered off deep into stoppage time due to a severe injury. A gutting setback.

Ibrahima Konate – 8

Defended superbly and wasn’t rattled by Arsenal’s press when in possession. Made some key contributions, including drawing a foul from Gabriel Jesus in stoppage time. Received a booking for a late scuffle.

Virgil van Dijk – 8

Masterfully organised the defence and was authoritative in the box, dominating in the air. Instrumental in securing a second clean sheet of the season against Arsenal.

Milos Kerkez – 6

Had a busy start against Saka but improved as the first half progressed and performed better against him in the second half. Squandered a promising counter-attack with a poor cross in the first 45 minutes but defended tenaciously to block a Saka shot before half-time.

Ryan Gravenberch – 7

Clearly instructed to stick to Declan Rice when out of possession. Won all his first-half duels when Liverpool were under pressure and continued to be influential after the break. Delivered a nice ball over the top to Bradley in one second-half attack.

Alexis Mac Allister – 6

Saka breezed past him in an early Arsenal move and he was sloppy with a few passes initially, but he notably improved and helped Liverpool dominate the second half.

Jeremie Frimpong – 5

Liverpool’s most potent attacker, offering the only pace going forward, but his score is lowered due to poor decision-making. Missed one opportunity to take on Myles Lewis-Skelly and squandered a brilliant chance with a dreadful pullback to Florian Wirtz that was well behind the German. Looked like he’d picked up an injury in the first half but managed to complete the 90 minutes.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 6

Drifted into pockets of space and had a fair share of the ball. He was one of Liverpool’s main threats in the second half, but failed to challenge David Raya. His second-half free-kick went way off target, another just missed the bar, and a half-volley soared over the crossbar. A promising strike was also blocked.

Cody Gakpo – 5

Returned to left wing but spent much of the match assisting on the defensive end. Had a shot blocked after Bradley hit the bar and squandered another attack with a poor pass to Kerkez, though he did have some good moments of hold-up play.

Florian Wirtz – 5

Played as a false nine but roamed around with little impact except for one skilful dribble inside the box. Was brought down by Leandro Trossard at the end of that run, but VAR ruled out a penalty. Didn’t do enough outside of that.

Substitutes

Joe Gomez (Bradley, 90+3) – N/A. Came on late to replace an injured Bradley.
