Putin was questioned about the origins of 3I/ATLAS at an event before Christmas, and his response was surprising, as NASA says the comet has ‘no aliens’
Putin has described an interstellar object that’s gripped the world over recent months as his ‘secret weapon’ after he was quizzed about the existence of aliens. At an event on December 19, Vladimir Putin was asked by a reporter about the possibility of alien life.
He was further pressed on the 3I/ATLAS comet, amid recent speculation that it is an interstellar object with ‘aliens’ rather than a simple comet.
The Russian leader’s response was surprising, and comes as the acting NASA administrator, Sean Duffy previously said the comet posed ‘no threat to life’ and had ‘no aliens.’ It comes after 3I/ATLAS has yet again baffled scientists, carrying a ‘puzzling’ secret that shouldn’t be there.
The comet has been closely tracked by experts worldwide, but the theory that it could be something more than a natural comet has been publicised by Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb.
He has made several claims. His most recent one, as detailed in his personal blog, suggests the comet has a strange feature which could not translate to a simple comet.
He wrote: “At the distances at which comets are observed, the temperature is far too low to vaporise silicate, sulfide, and metallic grains that contain nickel and iron atoms.
“Therefore, the presence of nickel and iron atoms in cometary coma is extremely puzzling… 3I/ATLAS, which is a C2-depleted comet, exhibits extreme properties in the early phases of its activity with regard to the production rates and abundance ratios of nickel and iron”.
But Loeb’s theories have been contradictory. Just days ago, he told NewsNation: “At this point, given all the data that we have, I would agree that it’s most likely natural, but there are still a lot of things we don’t understand about it.”
When asked about the mysterious comet, the Russian president claimed that this information was to remain ‘strictly between us’, joking that the comet is Russia ’s ‘secret weapon’, which sparked laughter in the room.
Loeb is one of several experts who have speculated that 3I/ATLAS could indeed be an alien spaceship on its way to invade our planet. Outrageous spoon-bender Uri Geller recently told the Daily Star he believes the floating piece of space junk is “part of the Galactic Federation, although I do not believe they mean to hurt us”.
