The Masked Singer UK star dropped a huge bombshell about her time on the ITV hit show
A former Masked Singer contestant seems to have breached a major show rule.
Father Brown actress Julia Sawalha previously took part in the ITV programme as Bubble Tea. During her stint, she failed to outperform Owl and was sadly eliminated, forcing her to unmask.
The revelation left viewers stunned, particularly guest judge Jennifer Saunders, who had portrayed Julia’s on-screen mum Edina ‘Eddie’ Monsoon opposite her character Saffron ‘Saffy’ in Absolutely Fabulous.
Upon unmasking, Julia exclaimed: “Mummy!” at a bewildered Jennifer, who leapt to her feet and cried: “Darling, what are you doing here? !”.
During Sunday’s (January 11) Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, Julia was inevitably questioned about the memorable encounter, reports the Mirror.
Julia disclosed: “Well I said to her everybody’s gonna think it’s fixed after but she said ‘not with a look on my face’ she said that didn’t have a clue because from where she’s sitting, the singers look very, very tall, because you’ve got the extra you know, mascot.”
The actress then admitted she was aware her co-star would be judging before stepping onto the stage, which breaks protocol as contestants typically aren’t privy to such information.
She confessed: “I mean, they did tell me that Jennifer was going to be on the panel, because if they hadn’t and I’d walked out, it’s scary enough as it is. If I had seen her on the panel, I don’t think I would have made it.”
A quickly queried: “Did you enjoy doing it?” To which Julia responded: “I loved it. It’s live, you don’t get a second chance. If you mess up on your song – you can’t see, hear, smell, taste, walk, anything.”

I said to my costume lady, I said, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’ you can’t escape, you see so you go to freeze mode and what your body is actually doing is resting itself before the hard hits of adrenaline.”
She confessed: “But I’m a changed woman after that for the better because I think if I could do that because it wasn’t stage fright it was something way beyond. I could not pull a thing from my brain. It had gone totally black. “.
The star continued: “I don’t think I could have even known what my name was. I could hear somebody singing and I knew I was going on and I could not escape the situation.
“I thought there was something wrong with my brain, but I was told later on that, It happens.”
