A Middle Island motorist died Monday evening after her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV in East Patchogue, Suffolk police said.
Rae Deprizio, 77, was driving west in a 2014 Kia Optima on Woodside Avenue East when she “crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2012 Jeep Renegade,” the Suffolk police said in a news release.
Deprizio was transported to NYU Langone Hospital — Suffolk in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Jeep was transported to the same hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening.
Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks, according to the release.
Detectives with the Suffolk County Police Department’s Fifth Squad based in Patchogue ask anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 631-854-8552.
