Coronation Street has marked an emotional milestone on Instagram
Coronation Street fans have been left in tears as the ITV soap shared an emotional tribute after a tragic death. The drama’s official Instagram account has shared several throwback images from 2016, marking ten years since multiple memorable storylines.
They include Carla Connor’s (Alison King) wedding to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), which ended in disaster when Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) revealed Carla’s one-night stand with Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), causing Nick to jilt her at the altar and seek an annulment.
2016 also saw the return of villain Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre), who ran a fradulent buy-to-let property scam, manipulated Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis), framed Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) for pushing Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), and kidnapped Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth).
That’s not all, as it was also the year that Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) was tragically killed on the cobbles when she was stabbed by Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) while trying to save her friend Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) outside the Prima Doner. Kylie died in her devastated husband David’s (Jack P. Shepherd) arms in a brutal attack that left viewers heartbroken.

The soap shared photos of the unforgettable plots on Instagram on Tuesday (January 13), alongside the caption: “10 years on, and 2016 still lives rent free.”
Fans were quickly left devastated after seeing a photo of David cradling a dying Kylie, with one person writing: “Kylie’s death was heartbreaking,” alongside a broken heart emoji.
Another added: “Kylie’s death still haunts me,” while a third said: “God I’ll never get over Kylie dying,” with several crying emojis.
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “How can this be 10 years ago! Kylie’s death still traumatises me and I completely forgot about Pat Phelan,” with another similarly sharing: “Wow, how has it been 10 years since Kylie died??? That’s flown by so fast!”
Meanwhile, Sarah Platt star Tina O’Brien wrote: “This was not 10 years go?” The 42-year-old actress, who has played Sarah since 1999, then took to her own Instagram page to share throwback photos from 2016.
Tina shared behind-the-scenes photos from her on-screen brother David’s car crash that year. The character was involved in a dramatic incident where he crashed his vehicle, leading to a large explosion.
The pictures featured several of Tina’s co-stars including Mikey North, Lucy Fallon, Michael Le Vell, Jane Danson, Bhavna Limbachia, and Corrie icon Helen Worth.
Fans shared their support in the comments section, with one person writing: “10 years ago is crazy! Love the photos.” Another added: “Stunning as always @tinaob83 you never age.”
A third said: “Love it!” while another viewer similarly shared: “Anyone else keep thinking that Bethany is still 18! Wild.”
