First look at new Lara Croft as A-list star squeezes muscles into teeny outfit

The new Lara Croft actress has been announced ahead of the upcoming Tomb Raider series and new pictures of the Hollywood starlet wearing a tight tank top and mini shorts have been released

Pictures of the new Lara Croft have been released – but can you guess which Hollywood star has taken over the role?

New snaps show Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner wearing Lara’s iconic get-up – a green tank top, black shorts and black leather gloves. Of course, Sophie was styled with the video game character’s iconic hair braid and a few new accessories for this next instalment in the franchise.

Turner wore two black leg straps on her thighs, a backpack and circular glasses with red lenses as she stuck a power stance with one hand on her hip.

Over on X/Twitter, fans praised Sophie’s outfit as one person tweeted: “Yeah, they nailed it.” Another said: “Looks [the] same to me.”

“I was skeptical about her casting but holy s*** this is insane [shocked emoji] she looks better than the video game version of Lara,” gushed another Tomb Raider fan.

Someone else said the “casting feels right,” a second chimed in: “Ok wait…she might cook with this one fr,” and a third said: “This s*** is perfect.”

The new Tomb Raider series is currently in production after it was announced that Sophie would be taking over the role from Angelina Jolie, who starred in the original films during the noughties.

Sophie’s series was greenlit at Prime Video back in May 2024 and the actress was announced as the lead in November. The series’ cast includes sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan and Bill Paterson.

Comedian and Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge is on board as creator, writer and executive producer, joined by co-showrunner Chad Hodge.

The first Tomb Raider game was released back in 1996 while the latest came out in 2018. Fans will be excited to hear that two new games are due for release in 2026 and 2027.
