Jade Scott opened up about a heartbreaking family tragedy in the latest episode of The Traitors in emotional scenes at the roundtable, which were perhaps the most emotional yet
The Traitors star Jade Scott has opened up about a devastating family heartache. In tonight’s episode of the hit BBC show, the student told fellow players about losing her mum.
She said: “My parents got divorced when I was seven. My mum moved back to Hong Kong, she had a kid and then in 2018 they were both found dead.” Jade went on to talk about how difficult life has been since losing her mum.
She added: “I’ve had to really rebuild myself from that point onwards. I was always very close to her so it was a shock to the system. Our parents form a big core of our identity so I had to rebuild myself.” Jade also got emotional at the round table in the tense episode. After being accused by other players, she got tearful.
Things then got heated during a clash with rival Matthew Hyndman. After the round table ended, he offered her a hug but she turned him down and fled in tears.
Jade later said: “It just gets to a point where you just crack. I am amazed that I’m still here. If anything, it reminds me that I’m incredibly resilient… even though I cry.”
Jade has made it to the final eight in the series. If she wins the prize money, she plans to buy a property.
Before filming started, she said: “I would really like to buy a house. I’m the ripe age of 25 and PhD life doesn’t pay very well.
“I’d like to buy a house somewhere I can call home, as I have moved around a lot for studying and so I’d like somewhere to finally call my own.”
Elsewhere, fellow faithful Jessie Stride insists she isn’t bothered about being kicked off The Traitors – because raising awareness about stammers was more important than winning.
The fan favourite was bumped off in tonight’s episode but still feels like she’s had a big victory.
She said: “My aim was to raise awareness of stammering, which I hope I did. I did give it my all in in the game, and I probably couldn’t have done much more.
“I am gutted to go but I’m also leaving with my head held high and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. It would have been lovely to win but I feel I’ve achieved a bigger goal.”
Jessie has been swamped with praise from people who stammer on social media. She said: “To have people reach out who have stammers, and let me know how it’s helped them has been lovely.
“To get that love and that feedback… it’s just really nice. That’s a win to me.
“It is really nice, just because I know what it is like to live with it.”
The Traitors continues next Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One and streaming on iPlayer.
