Coronation Street’s Megan has shocked ITV soap viewers with her villainous storyline, but who is actress Beth Nixon?
Coronation Street’s Megan has certainly caused a stir since her arrival on the cobbles, but who is the gifted actress behind the villainous character?
Beth made her first appearance on the ITV soap last year, portraying the athletics coach of young Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), who relocated from Hull to Weatherfield with his family. This includes his father Ben (Aaron McCusker), grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn) and Ben’s girlfriend Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), who returned to the street after a seven-year absence.
However, it was later unveiled that Megan had been covertly grooming 16 year old Will for months before his move. Megan has also sparked a romance with fellow teacher Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard), reports Mirror.
This week, the soap dropped a bombshell when it was revealed that Megan is pregnant. So, as more drama unfolds on the long-standing soap, let’s delve into the life of newcomer Beth Nixon….
Beth’s normal job before Coronation Street role
Hailing from York, 25 year old Beth studied drama at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. Juggling her aspirations of becoming an actress with her day job, Beth was managing a skin clinic when she auditioned for Corrie.
Upon discovering she had secured the role of the malevolent Megan on the soap, Beth – who also spent years working as a waitress – was overwhelmed with emotion.
“I was at work when my agent called me. I was upstairs as my colleague watched the desk and, when he told me I’d got it, everybody in the clinic could hear me screaming my head off and then I cried, because it’s been four years since I graduated and this is my first TV role,” she told York College.
Beth added: “It’s been a hard time and I was really close to quitting, having a normal job and pursuing a different career, so this just came at exactly the right time and when I needed it.”
Beth on working with actor ex-boyfriend
Coronation Street marks Beth’s television debut. Before landing her soap role, she had tackled “a few plays and radio voiceovers” and also featured in a McDonald’s advertisement in Switzerland alongside her actor former partner.
“I was flown out there for four days, shot the advert and thought it was just the coolest thing in the world – getting paid to eat McDonald’s all day in Switzerland!” she revealed to York College.
“The job was with my ex-boyfriend and we were sat in a car park and the advert was about me finding those few chips that you always get left in the bottom of the bag. I’ve also done a few plays and radio voiceovers, but nothing major really until this.”

It emerges that Beth nearly secured a place on Coronation Street prior to joining as Megan and came remarkably close to landing another character. “This is my first TV job, but not the first time I have auditioned for Corrie,” Beth previously revealed.
She elaborated: “I auditioned for the part of Lauren Bolton and then for a girl who was giving Lauren a hard time at the mother and baby unit. My agent called me and explained this role and asked if I wanted to audition.”
The role of Lauren eventually went to actress Cait Fitton, who made her debut in 2022 and has been a regular on the show ever since.
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
