A former manager of a women’s football team has been handed a long ban by the FA after being proven guilty of 23 charges for sending indecent images of himself to players and staff
The Football Association (FA) has banned the former manager of a fourth-tier women’s team for 12 years after he sent indecent images of himself to a players and a member of staff.
Ryan Hamilton was found to have sent images of his penis to a player and a staff member on social media during his time as Sutton Coldfield Town’s Women’s manager. He also sent naked or partially named photographs of himself to two of the other players, and sent a video to a player of himself masturbating.
Hamilton denied 24 FA charges of improper conduct – all of which related to his time in charge of the Birmingham-based club – but an independent regulatory commission concluded that 23 of the 24 were proved.
Four players and one staff member detailed evidence to the FA, with the examples including Hamilton trying to elicit sexual activity between May 2022 and November 2024.

The FA regulatory commission written ruling said: “Women should be able to participate in football without being subjected to the sort of behaviour Mr Hamilton exhibited towards them.
“Women’s football is prospering, and for it to continue to flourish, a clear message needs to be sent that the sort of misconduct Mr Hamilton committed will not be tolerated and will be met with the most severe consequences.”
The commission noted that one of the victims appeared to blame herself, and the four players involved “feared the consequences of complaining and that it would impact on their chances of being selected”, adding: “Worst of all, some of them somehow felt that it might be their fault.”
It was stated that the commission had “no doubt” Hamilton’s behaviour would have continued had one of the players not complained.
Hamilton, who left his role at Sutton Coldfield Women’s manager in November 2024, attended an interview which was requested by the FA and he answered allegations made by two of the players. But he terminated that interview fast after taking a phone call.
He then failed to engage again with the FA and did not rearrange his interview. Hamilton was requested to provide material from his phone but did not do so.
The commission decided he had “no more than bare denials” in relation to three of the complainants, adding: “He has shown no introspection, contrition or remorse.
“The closest he has come is to say that he is ‘not proud of’ his behaviour.”
The names of the complainants involved were removed from the commission’s report before being made public on Friday. The FA said it had nothing further to add beyond the ruling.
