From Brexit, to Megxit, onto Beckxit…Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have struck up a surprising new friendship with Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz.
As the young couple’s dramatic fallout with the Beckham family dubbed “Beckxit” continues to make headlines, insiders have said the Sussexes are keen to form a new “US Fab Four” alliance. The Sussexes’ departure from royal life became known as “Megxit”, so it comes as no surprise that the new “Beckxit” has brought the two pairs; both made of British emblems and their respective American actress wives, together.
Brooklyn and Nicola may not have received a personal invite to Meghan and Harry’s Montecito mansion, but the pair still found themselves rubbing shoulders with the royal couple at a star-studded bash thrown by Paramount and Nickelodeon boss Brian Robbins.
Sources told Closer the Sussexes were “particularly kind, caring and generous” to Brooklyn and Nicola, and it seems the new friendship is moving at lightning speed. According to insiders, Meghan has big plans for the foursome, with one revealing: “The Sussexes are looking to really build on this friendship, and all of them see huge potential for it to evolve into a ‘US Fab Four’.”
The source added: “Creating this new power alliance is a big slap in the face for David, Victoria and the royals – but the four have zero qualms or regrets about that because they all feel like they’ve been so badly wronged. As far as they’re all concerned, teaming up and finding solidarity in adversity is a no-brainer.
“And if they can get a sense of revenge in the process, then that’s all the better.” Meghan, 43, is said to be keen to mentor fellow actress Nicola, 30, and has reportedly showered the Beckham-Peltzs with invites to Harry’s Invictus Games, as well as the Sussexes’ Portuguese villa and California home, Closer reported.
The insider added: “Meghan is super-excited to have Nicola on board as a friend, and they’re brainstorming all kinds of collabs together. Nicola’s extremely grateful to Meghan for all the kindness and support.
“She’s still very upset about the ongoing feud with Brooklyn’s family, but this blooming friendship with the Sussexes is one silver lining that’s been a huge positive. They’re talking and texting a lot.”
The Beckhams have long-standing ties to both the Waleses and the Sussexes, having attended both royal weddings. However, things reportedly soured when Harry and Meghan accused Victoria of leaking stories to the press.
The Beckhams have strongly denied the claim, but it is said to have left David furious. Since then, the Beckhams have been firmly in the Waleses’ camp, while the so-called “Fab Four” of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan have been estranged since Megxit.
Meghan, for her part, reportedly feels a kinship with Nicola over their shared experience of being painted as villains in family dramas. A source told Closer: “It’s a very familiar narrative, and one Meghan’s painfully aware of, having been on the receiving end of what she sees as exactly the same type of smear.
“So she empathises and looks forward to being a sounding board for whatever advice Nicola may need.”
