Apple’s thinnest iPhone cut to much cheaper price but it won’t last forever

One deal cuts hundreds off the price of Apple’s thinnest device

It is officially Apple’s thinnest ever smartphone, the iPhone Air . Last year, the tech provider wowed the industry with one of its flagship models, weighing just 165g.

Making it easier to carry around, super slim, and much lighter, not forgetting that it doesn’t compromise on performance. Hidden within is the powerful A19 Pro Chip, the exact same one that’s hidden under the hood of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

This helps give it a great power, response and a boost to its battery life. As this model continues to be snapped up, there’s one standout way to get it for less as it drops by £144.

In the ongoing Sky Winter Sale, the handset has been reduced, an ideal perk for consumers who prefer to split the price instead of splashing out hundreds at once, like on Amazon’s on-sale £849 rate, for example. Now £27 a month instead of the usual £31 monthly rate, this is what cuts the cost for shoppers.

With this, there is a £12 upfront fee, and data to be added on top. The adjacent airtime plan can also be bought for less in the sale, with its half-price plan.

Sky customers can get the Apple iPhone Air for £27 per month and cut £144 off the usual price

One that caught our eye is the 50GB plan, which is slashed to £10 per month for the first six months of the plan. From month seven, it will rise to the usual £20 cost for the remaining five months of the minimum 12-month term (after which users can change their data plan if they wish).

The handset part of the deal, however, can be changed after 24 months for no extra cost, but the actual contract is a 36-month term for consumers. Which can often be confusing, but it states in small print just under the listing.

Combining Sky’s cheaper iPhone Air monthly rate with the data deal makes it cheaper than rivals, like at O2 , for example. The rival retailer is offering the handset with 50GB of data is £50.32 a month with an upfront fee of £30, a big difference to Sky’s initial £37 monthly rate (with the data bundle).

Branded as ‘more durable than any other model’ by Apple itself, it’s not the lightest available on the market. Samsung’s close rival the S25 Edge, beats it slightly with its 5.8mm size and 163g weight.

Samsung’s rival offers a larger screen and better speakers but it doesn’t beat Apple’s iPhone Air on performance. The iPhone Air comes out on paper with its CPU and its video quality.

The Express’ Technology Editor David Snelling saw the model at Apple’s California launch last year and while he noted, at the time, that it was one of the giant’s ‘most exciting updates in a while’ and was ‘wowed’ by the design however it doesn’t match all qualities of the iPhone 17 Pro.

As David said: “It can’t match the might of the iPhone 17 Pro’s triple camera system. The Air won’t snap that epic ultra-wide shot at a football stadium or zoom in close when the ref holds up a red card.

“It’s a surprisingly good device that will turn heads when pulled from your pocket. However, there are compromises, and it can’t match its siblings in terms of camera or overall battery life, all at a cost of £999.”
