‘He looks a fine staying prospect’ – Jason Heavey’s racing tips

The Daily Star Chief Tipster has singled out a young chaser who he expects to win at Haydock while Harry Cobden looks the man to follow at Taunton

JUPITER DES BORDES (3.05, nap) can take off for punters at Haydock on Tuesday.

The six-year-old is a fine staying prospect for trainer Richard Hobson who does well with stamina-laden chasers.

Recruited from France where he won over hurdles, he showed real promise last season but has moved his form to a new level this term with a nice third at Wetherby before grinding out victory at Warwick 19 days ago.

Jupiter Des Bordes was giving 18lb to a horse who has won well since, so the form looks solid.

With Charlie Maggs claiming 5lb, he is fancied to win the Betfred Last Fling Handicap Chase.

BRENTFORD HOPE (3.40) reverts to hurdling where he has edged down the weights and can return to winning form under 7lb claimer Megan Fox in the last race.

CLONDAW ROYALE (12.35) won the Haydock opener 12 months ago and bids for a repeat off a 6lb lower rating, while PADDY O’MAHLER (2.05) has taken well to chasing and can score again for the in-form Sue Smith and Joel Parkinson training combo.

LADY TADITA (2.20, trb) is unbeaten under Rules in bumpers and hurdles and she gets the vote in the Byerley Stud Mares’ Novices Hurdle at Taunton.

It is a Listed contest and she will appreciate the decent ground.

Harry Cobden rarely leaves the Somerset track empty handed and has strong claims on INNAMORATO (12.50), KNOCK OFF SOXS (1.20) and SQUARE DU ROULE (2.50).

The best bet at Wolverhampton appears to be AMERJEET (8.30, nb) who is extremely well handicapped.

He was unlucky in running eight days ago over the track and trip, but I suspect Billy Loughnane – on course to set a new record for most winners in a calendar year – will make sure he does not get too far behind this time.
