A Sky Sports star has shared her stark injuries after being involved in a ‘freak accident.’ Racing presenter Vanessa Binnie Ryle shared with her 12,400 followers on X how she spent hours in the emergency department after suffering injuries to her face.
In the post, she wrote: “It wasn’t the merriest Christmas for me as Boxing Day threw a curve ball – 10hrs in A+E, a fractured cheek bone & some work with the plastics team later… funny how an unlucky freak accident can make you realize how lucky you are in SO many ways. Happy New Year!”
Accompanying the post were two photos of the presenter’s face, showing bloodied injuries to the left side of her face. Fans were quick to send messages of support.
One social media user wrote that her injuries looked ‘really nasty’ and added that he hoped she’s ‘okay’ and is facing a ‘speedy recovery.’ Meanwhile, another user added: “Thats very nasty Vanessa. Speedy recovery. Look after that cheek.’
It comes after Match of the Day legend Kevin Hunter Day was previously involved in a serious accident, with the presenter ending up in hospital after suffering injuries to his back.
Just days ago, another sporting legend was involved in a major accident. Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal car crash in Nigeria, according to local reports at the time.
The British heavyweight, 36, was involved in the accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Joshua’s vehicle, a Lexus Jeep, is said to have collided with another vehicle, with the circumstances that caused the crash under investigation.
Joshua is reported to have suffered minor injuries by eyewitnesses who helped at the scene, but two other individuals were killed as a result of the collision. The incident happened near Makun, Ogun State, shortly after 11am on Monday, December 29, with distressing images of the incident shared on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, the Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck. Reports indicate Joshua was seated behind the driver along with another passenger when the crash happened.
Four people were inside the Lexus at the time, while his security followed in a separate vehicle. As per local media, rescue efforts began immediately, with eyewitnesses flagging down passing motorists to assist.
Joshua has been celebrating defeating Jake Paul in their lucrative heavyweight match earlier this month. He knocked down the American YouTuber-turned-professional boxer in the sixth round at Miami’s Kaseya Center on Saturday, December 19, leaving his younger rival on the canvas with a double broken jaw.
