Donald Trump DOES send planes over British Greenland after locals warn President to stay away

Date:

The US has sent war planes to John O’Groats airport, just a stone’s throw from Greenland in Scotland. Pictures of the aircraft emerged just hours after worried residents warned Trump against invading their village.

Donald Trump has sent warplanes to the UK’s Greenland just hours after residents warned the US President to keep away from their home.

Locals in the tiny farming community in the Scottish Highlands expressed fears that the Orange manbaby would mistake their home for the giant Atlantic island of the same name, which he’s trying to seize.

They warned the leader of the free world not to meddle in Greenland, Caithness, which is around 11 miles from John O’Groats in the Scottish Highlands.

But just hours after they aired their concerns, at least three menacing-looking US aircraft took off from Wick John O’Groats Airport, which is just down the road from Greenland.

The planes were assisting with the US seizure of the Marinera, a Russian-flagged vessel previously known as Bella-1, which is said to have escaped Donald Trump’s “total naval blockade” of Venezuela.

People living in the small Scottish farming settlement earlier said they were hoping the US President does not – by accident or design – train his sights on their area.

It may not be so far-fetched given that the US Navy used to run two bases in the far north which monitored submarine activity in the north Atlantic.

Asked whether he thought Trump was serious about his Greenland invasion plan, farmer Andrew Mackay, of West Greenland, Caithness, said: “I don’t think he’s bluffing. I think he’s quite serious.

“Just look at how quickly he’s gone into Venezuela. It’s full of oil and Americans need that.”

But the farmer was confident that he could be the one making money if Trump was to try and invade the wrong Greenland.

He said: “We might be able to stop him on the beach. We could cook some steak for them, because they like steak and we’ve got plenty of cattle here.

“So we could make some money off them and send them on their merry way!

“Hopefully they’ll get lost on their way here.”

Fellow Greenland resident and retired farmer Hamish Pottinger reckons Trump’s troops would find the remote terrain of northern Scotland quite difficult.

He added: “I think we’d be able to starve them out quite quickly.”

Meanwhile, after refusing to comment, the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) eventually confirmed it took part in the operation to seize Marinera, saying it provided “operational support” to the US Air Force.

Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander said the ship was “part of the shadow fleet that funds Russia’s war effort in Ukraine “.

He insisted it is “right and reasonable” that the UK works with its international allies – such as the US – to tackle Russian attempts at sanction busting, used to help fund the conflict in Ukraine.
