Male baddies claim to be the ‘baddest of them all’ as women scream they can’t handle them

Date:

A TikTok trend has ignited a yet another another brutal gender war as men rebrand themselves ‘male baddies’ — and women insist they can’t and won’t handle it

A TikTok debate between men and women has arisen and it’s as heated as ever. This time it’s all about men accusing women of “not being able to handle them” as a band of men title themselves “male baddies”, and TikTok users are sparring about who is the “baddest of them all.”

A “baddie” is internet slang for someone who puts extra effort into looking good — flawless grooming, confident — and knows it. Basically, a baddie is somewhat of a diva, which according to the dictionary is “a self-important person who is temperamental and difficult to please (typically used of a woman)”.

Traditionally the term has been used to describe women, but some men have recently started adopting the label for themselves, birthing the term “male baddies”.

Now, male baddies everywhere are being slated. They say that this is the reason why women can’t stay in relationships with men. And a lot of women have a lot to say about it.

In a TikTok reposted by Julia Fox – user builtbybri – joked “what the hell is a man baddie? We are doomed. Doomed I tell you.”

“We already let y’all invade our personal space in the nail shop. At first it was just your feet but then y’all upgraded to your hands and eyebrows.”

Another came to the defence of male baddies, with user blackryanseacrest explained how he believes this uproar is hypocrisy. He then provided examples of typical statements from women like: “I need to be with a ‘medium-ugly man’ for the relationship to work” or “I don’t want a man who knows he’s attractive”

The social media user railed against those talking points and said: “These are the very same things that men get called insecure for and many of those things are very valid for men to get called insecure for but of course, the women get on here and complain by doing those same things.”

He then went on to challenge the idea that “men are competing with women?” He added: “It was never a competition babe – that man (the original coiner of ‘male baddies’) did not say a woman can’t handle being in a relationship with a man who’s better than her… y’all took it that way because you’re insecure.

“If you weren’t afraid of getting out-baddied you wouldn’t care who called themselves a baddie,” he continued.

But many women insist the term belongs to them and were not satisfied with this defence, claiming that, in summary, men are now trying to reclaim a word which grew out of female-focused online culture. Another user, mor.riah said: “I completely [agree] us women cannot handle a man who thinks he’s a baddie. I cannot handle a man who thinks he is the prize.”

Despite the intense tone, much of the debate appears to be light-hearted, with both sides poking fun at the catalyst as his ideas continue to grow across TikTok. This gender clash has suddenly made the once iconic label controversial. And so, the battle of the baddies continues.
