Former EastEnders villain Gray Atkins actor Toby-Alexander Smith has been flooded with support following a career update

Former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith has landed a fresh acting gig almost four years after departing the BBC One soap.

The 34-year-old became notorious for portraying Albert Square’s arch-villain Gray Atkins across three years from 2019 to 2022, before the serial killer was ultimately apprehended in a dramatic finale.

Gray had spent countless months hiding his sinister deeds after killing his wife, Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), whilst also mistreating his second wife, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).

Nevertheless, his wicked behaviour couldn’t remain hidden indefinitely, and thankfully, he was taken into custody after Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) revealed his true nature.

“Consider it payback for Kush,” Gray declared to a stunned Whitney as his world came crashing down. “That’s right, I killed him too. I pushed him under that train”, reports OK!.

Following his departure from the BBC drama, Toby-Alexander went on to feature in period productions “An American in Austen” and “Love Across Time.”

The performer has also tied the knot with Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh, who portrays Tracy Robinson in the ITV drama, and they have a daughter called Bonnie, whilst anticipating the arrival of their second child.

On Tuesday (January 13), Toby-Alexander revealed he’s appearing in the fresh feature film, A Murder Between Friends, which also features Dynasty icon Joan Collins, and can now be watched via streaming services across America.

The Agatha Christie-inspired whodunit centres on six mates who venture to the countryside retreat of a renowned true crime television personality for a getaway.

Naturally, the group never anticipated discovering one of their circle had been killed. With suspicion falling on everyone, they attempt to determine which among them possessed the means, motive, and opportunity.

Posting several images from the production, Toby-Alexander penned: “Tonight’s the night. A Murder Between Friends is streaming on all platforms in the US.”

His spouse, Amy, promptly reshared Toby-Alexander’s update to her own Instagram Story, adding: “How exciting.”

Toby-Alexander’s announcement also drew congratulations from mates and supporters, with one individual responding: “Awesome”, whilst another declared: “Great”, accompanied by a lovestruck emoji.

A third person declared: “Go on Tobes”, whilst someone else added: “You AND @jacob_w_young? ? ? ? I’m sold. As a lifelong EastEnders and All My Children fan, this has me so excited! ! ! ! ! .”
