A teenage boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Nottingham city centre on Wednesday evening – police say his family are aware and they are investigating the incident
A 16 year old boy has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Nottingham city centre The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 14, and saw the teenager taken to hospital when emergency services arrived at the scene.
Nottinghamshire Police were quick to respond, arriving at the scene at 5.51pm that evening. The boy was discovered with two stab wounds on George Street near Hockley, where he received initial treatment.
He was subsequently transported to hospital for further care – his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Nottinghamshire Live reports.
The boy’s family has been informed about his condition. In response to the attack, police have initiated an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to step forward with information.
No arrests have been made thus far. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police stated: “Emergency services were called to George Street at 5.51pm after a 16-year-old boy sustained two stab wounds.”
“He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering in nature, and his family has been made aware.
“An investigation into what happened is continuing and additional witnesses are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers quoting incident 556 of 14 January 2026.”
This stabbing incident follows a year in which the force set a new record for confiscating knives, leading to a decrease in knife crime. In 2025, Nottinghamshire police’s knife crime team seized a total of 224 weapons and made 150 arrests.
Due to targeted patrols across the city, a number of weapons have been confiscated. This has led to the discovery of numerous blades that could have otherwise remained hidden.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, there was a one per cent decrease in knife-related offences in Nottinghamshire between October 2024 and September 2025.
