Sergey Karaganov, head of Russia’s Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, warned Europe would be ‘finished physically’ if Russia is defeated in Ukraine as fears of an all-out World War 3 only appear to be growing
Russia has issued a chilling nuclear threat aimed squarely at Britain and the rest of Europe. It comes as threats of an all-out World War 3 only appear to be rising between Russia and the West.
Sergey Karaganov, who heads Russia’s Council for Foreign and Defence Policy, warned that should Russia face defeat in Ukraine, Mad Vlad Putin “would use nuclear weapons and Europe would be finished physically”. The hardliner also slammed his own administration for showing “too patient” towards Europe.
In remarks to right-wing American broadcaster Tucker Carlson, he declared: “I am criticising my government of being too prudent and too patient with them. But sooner or later, if they continue to support this war, sacrificing numerous of the Ukrainians and others; we’ll have to punish them severely.”
Karaganov dismissed any notion of Russian defeat as a “fantastic illusion” whilst claiming European leaders suffered from “intellectual incapacity”, according to the Mirror. “Everybody in the world now laughs at Europe, which used to be, by the way, one of the core centres of world power,” he stated.
“Now it’s a joke. And of course, I am not speaking of all Europe. We know that there are decent Europeans. There are smart Europeans.”
The Kremlin figure alleged Europeans were “unable to understand what is happening fully” as the continent has been “intellectually degrading” since 1968. “They believe that war will never come to their territory, they forgot about the war and that it’s terrible,” he declared.
“Now, one of the tasks of Russia in addition to all others is to bring them to senses hopefully without using nuclear weapons.” The remarks emerge as worldwide tensions escalate further.
Britain has dispatched a military officer to Greenland whilst Denmark bolsters its armed forces presence in the Arctic and High North, following Donald Trump’s persistent demands for America to seize control of the territory. Denmark’s defence minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, announced on Wednesday that the joint operation would include multiple allied nations, cautioning that “no one can predict what will happen tomorrow”.
Number 10 confirmed that one British military officer had been sent at Denmark’s behest to join a reconnaissance team ahead of a scheduled Arctic Endurance exercise. “We share President Trump’s concern about the security of the High North and you see this as part of NATO and JEF nations stepping up to reinforce security in the High North,” a spokesperson declared.
“Stepping up with stronger exercising, to deter the Russian aggression and the Chinese activity.” Germany, Sweden, Norway, and France have confirmed they will deploy personnel to the collaborative mission, which seeks to chart additional cooperation to strengthen regional security and “strengthen our ability to operate in the area,” Denmark’s Ministry of Defence announced in a statement.
Fresh security worries arise amid mounting pressure from Mr Trump, who has persistently argued that America must acquire Greenland to stop Russia or China from seizing the territory. His administration has even gone as far as to threaten the use of force to annex Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Nato ally Denmark, sparking worries about the future stability of the transatlantic alliance.
