Love Island All Stars host Maya Jama has responded to fans questioning her smile transformation

Love Island presenter Maya Jama has hit back at critics over her dental makeover.

The 31-year-old made her return as host of All Stars last night (January 15), bringing 12 former Islanders back to the villa for another chance at romance.

However, her TV comeback swiftly drew scrutiny from viewers regarding her appearance. One viewer took to X, formerly Twitter, to ask: “Ahhh Maya what have you done with your teeth?”

Meanwhile, another ITV viewer commented: “Maya got Turkey teeth – I loveeeeeeed her old teeth so much.”

The term ‘Turkey teeth’ is commonly used to describe veneers that appear artificially white and unnatural, reports OK!.

The broadcaster was swift to clarify the situation, revealing she had actually undergone orthodontic treatment.

She responded to one critical comment: “Girl I have not got Turkey teeth l’ve got braces (behind my teeth on the top and outside on the bottom) I wasn’t mad at my lil crook but can never please em all, last season I was getting messages about them being bent.”

Her dental transformation wasn’t kept under wraps, as Maya’s orthodontists Dr Annika Patel and Dr Rhona Eskander had disclosed her treatment back in October 2025.

They posted on Instagram explaining that she had chosen lingual braces, which subtly correct teeth alignment “behind the surface”.

“This advanced technique allows you to achieve beautiful alignment discreetly while maintaining your natural smile throughout treatment,” the dental professionals explained on Instagram.

They continued: “Thank you @mayajama for choosing @chelseadentalclinic and trusting Dr Annika Patel and Dr Rhona Eskander with your smile journey.”

Fans rushed to the comments section to share their praise, with one writing: “So good!”, whilst another commented: “Well done guys” and a third chimed in: “Yasss” accompanied by heart and fire emojis.

This comes as Love Island : All Stars made its long-awaited return on Thursday evening following devastating wildfires that forced production delays for the popular ITV2 reality series.

In an unprecedented move for the programme, bosses have scheduled an additional full episode for Saturday night (17th Jan) at 9pm to compensate for the delayed launch.

Love Island: All Stars continues on ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.
