Lamar Odom arrested for DUI in Las Vegas

Date:

Former NBA star Lamar Odom has been arrested in Las Vegas on multiple charges.

Odom was arrested early Saturday morning and hit with multiple charges. In addition to driving under the influence, he was charged with two traffic violations, including one for speeding more than 40 miles per hour above the legal limit, according to an arrest record viewed by The Independent.

The 46-year-old appears to still be in custody at the Clark County Detention Center as of writing.

He is scheduled to appear in court March 17.

Odom’s former manager told The Independent she was “not surprised” to learn of his arrest.

Odom rose to fame as a basketball player from Queens, New York before being drafted fourth overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999. He went on to play 14 seasons in the NBA for the Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Odom was part of the Lakers’ 2009 and 2010 championship-winning teams.

Previously married to reality TV star Khloé Kardashian, Odom has a documented history of drug and alcohol issues. He married Kardashian in 2009 in a televised ceremony on E!. The pair filed for divorce in 2013 — the same year Odom was first arrested for DUI.

Odom’s struggles with drugs and alcohol were a contributing factor in his divorce from Kardashian.

However, their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2016 because Odom was left on life support in 2015 following an overdose at a Nevada brothel. He was found unconscious and suffered 12 seizures while in a coma, leaving Kardashian to make medical decisions as they were still legally married. It was later determined that Odom had cocaine in his system. He did, however, avoid drug charges in that case.

In 2024, on the heels of the death of One Direction’s Liam Payne, Odom opened up about his recreational drug use, including his experience with “pink cocaine.”

Speaking to TMZ, Odom confessed he’s taken “every” drug that was detected in Payne’s toxicology report. “Drugs could cause you to hallucinate – I’ve heard voices before,” the professional athlete said. “That’s about it.”

Odom, who was in in recovery for his own substance abuse issues at the time, suggested Payne may have been experiencing hallucinations from the combination of drugs.

On a December 2025 episode of Ian Bick’s podcast, Odom said: “I wish I was never introduced to cocaine or any other narcotic substances stronger than marijuana. I wish I would’ve stopped there. Me doing other drugs gave people the right for judgement. And I could’ve avoided that if I stayed on the straight path.”

Outside of his NBA career, Odom has appeared on Keeping up with the Kardashians and the spinoff series Khloé & Lamar.
