Furious football fans were left calling for a lifetime ban for one Trearddur Bay player on Saturday, as he was caught on camera seemingly knocking out a CPD Porthmadog talent with a violent elbow
Trearddur Bay have received a wealth of backlash online – after one of their players was spotted knocking down a CPD Porthmadog star with an elbow. A clip highlighting the incident went viral on social media on Saturday, as football fans called for a lifetime ban for the player in question.
Footage shared on X shows a number of players waiting at the edge of the box as a penalty is taken. As the whistle is blown, a Trearddur Bay player then adjusts his position slightly, before elbowing an unsuspecting Porthmadog player in the face.
The Porthmadog player then tumbles to the ground, seemingly knocked unconscious by the blow.
Now, a number of football fans across the UK have urged the Welsh FA to ban the player in question for life.
Uploading the clip, which has since been reposted by Porthmadog, one user said: “ABSOLUTELY DISTGUSTING FROM TREADDUR BAY [SIC] SHOULD GET BANNED FOR LIFE DISGRACE!! @CPDPorthmadogFC.”

In the comments section, others were quick to agree. One person added: “Silly p**** has just played his last game of football,” while another said: “That’s assault, screw banning him for life, arrest him.”
A third wrote: “Cowardly act, hope the victim is ok,” while a fourth explained: “That’s beyond unacceptable. Football has no place for that kind of behaviour.”
Elsewhere, another user urged the Welsh Football Association to look into the matter. They wrote: “@FAWales awful behaviours.”
Porthmadog, who play in the Lock Stock Ardal North West League in the third tier of Welsh Football, ran out 3-2 winners over Trearddur Bay on Saturday.
Tom Hilditch took the lead for the visitors 12 minutes into the fixture, before Gruff Ellis equalised on the 27 minute mark.
Jonny Bravo then gave Porthmadog the lead with six minutes remaining, before Gruff John expanded the lead to 3-1 moments later.
Hilditch bagged a brace for the day during stoppage time, but his efforts ultimately bore no fruit – as Porthmadog walked away from the encounter with all three points.
In the aftermath of the match, the club wrote on X: “Port forced to keep pushing towards the end of the extended injury time but deserving the victory over the 90.”
