Giovanna Miranda converted two free throws with 16 seconds remaining and grabbed a defensive rebound with two seconds left in West Babylon’s 55-53 victory over Deer Park in Suffolk III girls basketball on Saturday.
Ava Dockery and Jaelynn Burgess each scored 15 points for West Babylon (8-5). Jamirah Jones led all scorers with 22 points for Deer Park (5-8).
Floyd 67, Longwood 39: Savannah Pantry had 23 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and three blocks for Floyd (10-3) in Suffolk I. Gabrielle Bell-Eleazer had 19 points, five rebounds and seven assists and Rosie Micucci scored nine points. Arriana Toribio had 14 points for Longwood (3-11).
Northport 51, Half Hollow Hills East 41: Ava DeMarco had 12 points and six assists to lead Northport (12-0) in Suffolk III. Lyla Quinn added 12 points and Grace Gilmartin and Hailey Reuter each had nine points. Gilmartin also had 15 rebounds. Chloe Merchant led Half Hollow Hills East (6-7) with 17 points.
Glenn 51, Rocky Point 49: Avery Allen forced a missed shot and Ella Colongeli grabbed the rebound just before time expired for Glenn (5-10) in non-league. Colongeli led all scorers with 24 points and Allen contributed 10 rebounds. Alana Govan added 15 points. Giuliana Tocci scored 18 points and Abigail Hansen had 10 for Rocky Point (7-4)
Glen Cove 28, Great Neck North 26: Brooke Simmons scored 15 points to lead Glen Cove (4-9) in Nassau AA-II. Sophia Gonzales scored seven points. Sam Baybabyev scored 10 points for Great Neck North (2-9).
Malverne 53, Roosevelt 22: Nevaeh Lopez scored 17 points to lead Malverne (6-6) in non-league. Imani Chappelle and Meliya Jackson had six points apiece for Roosevelt (0-10).
Kellenberg 52, Sacred Heart 46: Selena Jones scored 13 points, Gabriella Pota added 12 and Tara Mulroy scored 11 to lead Kellenberg (8-7) in the CHSAA. Heather Chrobet led all scorers with 15 points for Sacred Heart (4-4).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Hempstead 65, Syosset 52: Amare Collins scored 23 points and Jonathan Davis had 20 for Hempstead (8-4) in Nassau I. Mike Mifsud led Syosset (7-6) with 15 points.
Sewanhaka 51, Division 48: Dante Anderson had 26 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead Sewanhaka (8-5) in Nassau V. Nehemy Fresnel had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Zain Faisal scored 22 points for Division (4-9).
Malverne 68, Roosevelt 40: Bryce McIntosh had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jason Miletic had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead Malverne (9-4) in non-league. Shane Lee added 10 points and eight assists. Jacob Hines scored 14 points for Roosevelt (3-10).
Valley Stream Central 38, South Side 37: Jaiya Vera had 14 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals to lead Valley Stream Central (6-4) in non-league. Sean O’Neil added nine points and four assists and Nelson Frias had 11 rebounds. Ryan Schmitt led all scorers with 18 points for South Side (10-2).
Riverhead 47, Sachem East 45: Anaiis Mitchell made a free throw with 13.2 seconds left to give Riverhead (3-10) a two-point lead in Suffolk I. On the final play, Peter Lagnena forced a missed shot as time expired. Landon Zaleski led all scorers with 18 points, Josiah Rodney added 12 and Lagnena scored 10. Josh Boothe had 12 points for Sachem East (8-5) and Aden-Amir Jones scored 10.
Deer Park 66, West Babylon 64: Damien Scott scored 22 points and Brandon Sorrese had 16 to lead Deer Park (11-2) in Suffolk III. Nusanti Delbridge added 13 points as Deer Park clinched a 16th consecutive playoff berth. Noah Rosa had 23 points, Danny Rose had 16 and Frank Gervasio had 12 for West Babylon (3-10).
Amityville 70, Rocky Point 63: Amir Dickerson scored 31 points to lead Amityville (6-5) in Suffolk V. Cam Alford had 13 points and three steals. Peyton Reisinger led Rocky Point (4-8) with 24 points.
