Trump could bribe Greenland residents with $1 million each in bizarre US deal

New reports suggest that US President Trump may consider parting with huge amounts of money in order to take control of Greenland after making u-turn decision on tariffs

US President Trump is considering bribing residents of Greenland with $1 million each in an exceptional attempt to gain control of the Artic Island.

According to the Daily Mail the crazy offer could cost the US an eye-watering £42.5 billion as Greenland currently has around 57,000 occupants. If they voted to join the United States this would work out at roughly £750,000 or €850,000 each.

The news comes after the President announced on Wednesday, January 22 that he will not impose the tariffs he threatened on eight European nations to secure control of the country. His dramatic U-turn decision was made not long after he claimed he wanted to take control of the island “including right, title and ownership.”

The president said on his social media site that he had come to an agreement with the head of NATO on a “framework of a future deal” on Arctic security, potentially defusing tension that had far-reaching geopolitical implications.

Trump claimed that “additional discussions” on Greenland were being held regarding the Golden Dome missile defence program, a multilayered, $175 billion system that for the first time will put U.S. weapons in space.

Trump said during his speech at the World Economic Forum at Davos that he was asking for territory that was “cold and poorly located” and that the U.S. had saved Europe during World War II while declaring of NATO: “It’s a very small ask compared to what we have given them for many, many decades.

“We probably won’t get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be frankly unstoppable. But I won’t do that, OK?”
