Marty Supreme star Kevin O’Leary wants to take his career from TV’s Shark Tank to silverscreen spycraft.
Shark Tank personality and Marty Supreme star Kevin O’Leary has said he wants to appear in the next James Bond film – but not as 007.
Walking the 83rd Golden Globes red carpet thanks to his debut role as the ruthless millionaire Milton Rockwell in Marty Supreme, the entrepreneur-turned-actor made the comments spoke to reporters about starring in the next Bond flick. Addressing speculation about a possible Bond role, O’Leary made clear he is not seeking to play the iconic British spy, instead setting his sights on a villainous turn.
“I want to be the bad guy in Bond,” he said. “Nobody can do it the way I can.”
O’Leary also weighed in on the long-running debate around the future of the franchise, saying he would like to see a woman take on the role of Bond. “And I want Bond to be a woman this time,” he added.
A female Bond has reportedly been ruled out by producers, but speculation continues over who will succeed Daniel Craig as the next 007. Several British actors have been linked with the role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Tom Hardy and Paul Mescal.
Bookmakers have also entered the debate. According to William Hill, London-born actor Callum Turner is currently the favourite to play Bond at odds of 1/2, with Taylor-Johnson second at 7/2.
With casting rumours continuing to swirl, O’Leary’s comments add a fresh twist to the ongoing conversation surrounding the future of the James Bond franchise.
